Apple s Case Against Steve Jobs - 943 Words

Apple was founded by three men; Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976. The company received an investment from Mark Markkula in 1977, introducing Apple Computer Inc. and the release of the Apple II. The Apple III and Apple IIe were then released. The Apple III was a high end machine that was highly priced, whereas the Apple IIe was a computer used in various households. In 1980, Apple became a public company which increased their share price significantly, making most of Apple’s staff members’ millionaires. By 1983, Apple became a Fortune 500 company as a result of their rapid growth (Alcom, 2012). In the early 1980’s, Apple encountered heavy competition from IBM which sold millions of PCs. Competition continued throughout the years with Microsoft releasing software such as Word and BASIC. The original Macintosh was released in 1984, known as â€Å"the computer for the rest of us†, while the Apple IIe simultaneously received awards for excellence (Alcom, 2012). Apple filed a lawsuit against Steve Jobs after he resigned due to political issues within the company. Jobs claimed he would start a new company so Apple filed a lawsuit to stop him from using sensitive information to be in competition with Apple. Nevertheless, Jobs started the NeXT Inc. company which made it the first computer on the market that was twice as powerful as Apple’s products and the price was $1000 less.
